Everybody Loves Jalepenos

Just wanted to share a few pictures from the planting of our garden and this adorable video of Alex and her original theme song. I think this girl has a future in commercial jingles!

Get Your Groupon

About a month or so a go I discovered Groupons.  Its an addictive (and frankly quite clever) little online marketing/advertising gimmick.  The idea is, you sign up for the notifications (free) and each day you receive a new Groupon offer via email.  If it appeals to you, you select it by the deadline (usually midnight that day) and if the pre-determined number of people in your area also select it, everyone gets the deal.  Pretty cool!

The first deal I signed up for: 6 yoga classes for Evan and I at a pretty swank little yoga studio for $30 total, regularly a $90 value.  A week or so later I got a $100 gift certificate to a local salon for $20.  Not bad.  Of course enough people signed up by the deadline on those days, so we all got our deals!  It's really pretty awesome and again, sort of addictive.  Not to mention a fantastic way for local businesses to gain some exposure.

Add this idea to the list of other successful concepts I wish I had thought of first!

But the most exciting thing I have signed up for thus far begins on Monday.  A 4 week boot camp designed to whip willing and otherwise motivationally challenged soldiers into fit and fabulous shape.  Normally a pretty pricey little program, but thanks to my Groupon, I will be getting my butt kicked for 4 weeks, at 5 am, for the bargain price of $49.  Yes, I actually paid for this. And considering I signed up for a 4 week class at 5 am ---I totally deserve to have my butt kicked.

And what's even better is I somehow convinced my friend Jenny that she should do it too! And she agreed!  So I will have somone I know, close by, to smack me in the face every morning before the sun comes up and ask me what the hell I was thinking!!!???  It should be great!

I am pretty sure Groupons are available in several major cities, so a quick Google search should help you find one near you.

Ah Google.  Add that to the list too.

Here is a snapshot of Jenny and I organizing an event in NYC, looking happy and super best-friend-y.

And here is hoping that in 4 weeks, when the class is complete, we're still friends.

Super fit friends that is.  :)

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!

A quick, cute, simple post.  The little one and I got up EXTRA early (for a Sunday) today and whipped up some treats for Kelly.  Eggs over easy with banana and dark chocolate waffles...with extra syrup for good measure.  :)  A Shamu happy mother's day card (complete with pop-up dolphin on the inside) and a gift with home-made wrapping paper completed the presentation.  Just look at those smiles!!  :)

Lots of love from your baby and Baby...Baby.  ;)

Also, I decided to save the cash on a bouquet of Mother's Day roses and instead invested in a couple new rosebushes to anchor the front porch.  The first couple SMALL, green additions to the yard...with many more on the way!

The Rest of the Weekend

While visiting IKEA and relaxing on the beach are reason enough to visit Florida, we actually had a more notable purpose for this locality.  We were super excited to attend the wedding of my good friend Heather and her new husband Steve.

Heather and I met 6 years ago when I was working for ESPN in Wisconsin and have remained great friends ever since and even co-workers for a short time there in between. The girl has more energy and spunk that anyone I've known! With the couple now living in St. Petersburg, its been great to catch up with them when our travels have surrendered us there ---they even lent us their new home last summer (while they were out of town even---so nice!) while the 3 of us were en route to Orlando.  And when Evan traveled there for work earlier this year, they couldn't wait to meet up with him for dinner and drinks---great peeps these two!

The wedding was one of those fantastic events that spans a few days and with Heather being an adept event planner, the logistics of the weekend were optimal.  They had a casual meet and greet on Thursday night where we connected with old friends and made a few new ones.  On Friday, the wedding was a perfect 15 minute ceremony overlooking the bay at St. Pete's followed by a great reception and later, a celebration at a nearby pub into the wee hours.  The following day the bride and groom (such troopers!) planned a super relaxing pirate ship cruise for their out of town guests followed by dinner at Tiki Hut---a place Evan and I had dinner when we took our very first trip together 2 years ago.

Below is our weekend in photos:

The Afterlife

I died over the weekend, went to heaven and I am back now to report on how sublime it is.  For those of you who imagined pearly gates, soft clouds to lounge on, a picturesque sky and enchanting angels, I am here to tell you it looks a little more like storage organizers, lounge chairs, picture frames and whimsical fabrics.  I finally made my first trip to IKEA!

Cue harps and singing angels.

Here we are about 30 minutes after arriving in Tampa, FL.

Evan's excited, but he's been here before.

It was GLORIOUS! There really are no words to describe how incredibly excited I was, so Evan has requested I simply share the video of our arrival.

It speaks for itself or at least for myself.

And in related news: Figuring out how to import videos to our blog now makes things a whole lot more embarrassing around here.  :)

Over the Weekend

Yep. That's Us.  :) More details on our fantastic weekend to follow...

We Have Seen The Light

UPDATE:  The light is up!
As promised pictures of our newly installed Equator Pendant Lamp! She's so pretty!

A little handy work to get the job started

Say: "Super Sized Equator Pendant Lamp!"

Unwrapping like a kid on Christmas!

Ta-Da!

We know you must be wondering when are we going to get rid of those terrible Post-It Note temporary window blind thingies.

Answer: Soon.

In fact, we found some very anomalous fabric over the weekend that we are currently pondering.  Where you ask?  Well, you'll have to stay tuned.... but I can tell you it is one of the most exciting places ever!!!  So exciting that we have an entire post dedicated to it.  And we only had to travel cross-country to get there.

And you might also be wondering what we did with our leftover 31/2 ft cardboard box....?

Well....we made a puppet show of course. :)
