Sew What

the girl scouts are awesome.  i stood in the back of the room at last week's meeting thinking our leader must have lost her damn mind.  there, at the front of the class, she stood with 15 of the tiniest and most adorable sewing kits i had ever seen.  her goal:  to teach the girls to sew.  in an hour.

i all but spit out my chai when she spoke the words out loud.  i felt imminent doom.  certain tears.  and a room full of children with needles stuck in them.

but there, in a small classroom, needles were threaded, thimbles were worn and 15 little girls learned to sew.

the best possible outcome?  besides learning to sew of course, alex came home so proud of her new skill that she got right to work making christmas gifts for the cats.

so this post is dedicated to moms more patient and far bolder than i.  specifically miss jen.
i stand corrected, i stand in awe and i stand far less in denial about how quickly these little girls get big (tear).

  1. Sewing opens up a whole new world of possibilities!

  2. Just discovered your blog. I love your love story. And Alex is a doll! a girl after my own heart... if I knew how to sew, the first thing I'd do is make my cat a toy, too! I think I'm too old for girl scouts though.

    1. nicole - thanks so much! we're so happy you found us! if these little girls can do it - i am sure you can too! :)
